AI Governance Advisory

AI Governance
Where It Counts.

Your staff are likely already using AI — often without a policy to guide them. We provide the frameworks, policies, and leadership capacity organizations need to manage that risk and stay mission-focused.

Is Your Organization's AI Use Governed?

The cornerstones of AI governance

Clear policies
Written guidance for which AI tools staff can use and how — so decisions don't happen by default.
Board and leadership oversight
Visibility at the leadership level into how AI is being used across your organization.
Guardrails that protect your mission
Boundaries that keep sensitive information safe and your organization's trust intact.
When this foundation is missing, it can look like:
Staff-level risk

A program manager pastes client case notes into ChatGPT to draft a summary report. No policy exists. No one said it was wrong. But the data was sensitive — and now it lives in a third-party system your organization never approved.

Who is responsible? What's your policy? What do you tell the client?

A large, open, busy work space comprising a diverse group of people who are sitting at a large conference table with laptops, computer tablets, mobile phones, and stacks of paper showing charts and tables. They are smiling and listening to one person at the table talk. There is a large screen behind the person talking with text that reads Public Health Strategy: Tracking Disease and Measuring Outcomes. In the background, there is a table of 3 people working at computers and across from them is another table with 4 people working at computers.

Bridget Williams-Simmons, Ph.D.

Founder & Principal Advisor

Bridget Williams-Simmons, Ph.D. founded Convergent Point Strategies to bring clear, evidence-based AI governance to mission-driven organizations facing real AI risks without in-house expertise.

She spent nearly 20 years at the National Institutes of Health, guiding major research priorities, governance strategy, and science policy across large federal programs — including contributing to landmark federal publications and legislative and regulatory analysis at the national level.

That breadth of experience gives Convergent Point Strategies strong insight into health, science, and research organizations, and means clients have access to a rare combination of governance, science policy, and communications expertise when they need it.

She also serves as Board Chair of the Executive Child Development Center, giving her a grounded view of the daily challenges nonprofit leaders face.

Common Questions. Clear Next Steps.

Every organization starts somewhere. Here are the questions we hear most often — and what you can do right now.

What does AI governance actually mean for an organization like ours?

It means having clear written policies for which AI tools your staff can use and how, visibility at the board level into how AI is being used, and guardrails that protect your data, your clients, and your mission. Many organizations have none of these yet — and that's exactly where we start.

Our organization is small. Where do we begin?

Smaller organizations often benefit most from starting with the AI Policy Starter Kit — practical policies, staff guidance, and board-ready documentation that give your organization immediate guardrails without a lengthy engagement. You do not need a large team or a large budget to govern AI responsibly. You just need the right framework.

How does AI governance fit alongside the technology support we already have?

Your technology partners do essential work — managing systems, security, and implementation so your tools function the way they should. AI governance works alongside that foundation to address a different set of questions that are becoming increasingly urgent: Which AI tools align with your mission? What policies does your staff need? What does your board need to know? How do you ensure your AI use reflects your values and holds up under funder scrutiny? As AI reshapes how mission-driven organizations operate, having both technology support and AI governance in place is becoming the standard — not the exception. Think of it as adding a strategic governance layer to the technology foundation you have already built.

How do we know if the cost is right for our organization?

Engagements are scoped to your organization's size and pace. The AI Policy Starter Kit is designed to be accessible for organizations with limited budgets. The AI Readiness Sprint is a more comprehensive engagement that provides a fuller picture of where your organizations stands first, maps its current AI use, and delivers a prioritized action plan. The clearest path is a complimentary advisory engagement — no obligation, and you'll leave knowing exactly what an engagement would involve and what it would cost.
